Here we are at the end of January, which brings us to the last issue of the ‘Everything Old is New Again’ for the month.
Today I’m featuring my little girl’s pretty bedroom. As much as she enjoys lots of frilly, girly things, her taste ran a little more simple for her bed frame. A couple of weeks before I planned to repaint her room we inherited a cute headboard and footboard for free that she really liked. It was missing the side rails and bolts. So a couple of pieces of lumber solved that problem and a coat of white paint made it pretty to match her book shelf and vanity.
The cool thing is the bookshelf we have had forever too. It was originally Mr Hubby’s from his childhood home. She is a collector by nature – can’t you tell from the “creativity” on the top? 🙂
The vanity actually belonged to her great-great-grandfather’s house until she inherited it. I was in love with this piece of furniture my whole life so she graciously offers to let me use it whenever I want. Sweetie!
So her entire room is now a wonderful collection of inherited furniture given new life for a vintage-loving girl. We dressed up the bed with an eyelet trimmed bed skirt and her favorite pony-themed quilt. Of course a bunch of stuffed friends hold court on the bed as well.
The fairy like canopy was a christmas present from her 8-year-old brother. With a little help from Mama he made this confection of whimsy with a wood frame from the craft store, bridal illusion, and a garland with her favorite – butterflies!
Some people might call it hodge-podge, but we call it fun and fanciful. 🙂 Thanks for visiting with us!
Peace and health,
