How To Turn Negative Self Talk Around And Improve Your Mood

Do you ever have those days when you are overwhelmed and frustrated and nothing seems to be going right? After trying to make progress on your tasks you begin to feel that nothing will work out right! This is where the negative self talk usually takes over.

You know the type:

“I can’t do anything right”

“I am no good at this”

“All the other moms do a better job with their kids than I do”

and on, and on!

One of the good things to do when caught in this trap is to call a friend. A true friend who will tell us how crazy we are being and remind us about all of our good qualities. Unfortunately, we don’t always have a friend available at the right moment!

So what is a girl to do? Well, I have a suggestion!

It takes a willingness to take control of that voice in our heads and a few minutes with a piece of paper and a pen, but it can turn the tables on that unfriendly moment.

Here is the process:

In order to squash the negative talk you have to pretend that the voice in your head is really a conversation going on in someone else’s life.

First, you write down the bad thought that is circling your brain. Now pretend your best friend called you and said these things about herself. You wouldn’t agree with her would you? Of course not! So what would you say?

Now write that down! Explain to her why these thoughts are ridiculous and how many awesome ways she is the best. Lastly comes the most important part. Read that testimony. Realize that negative voice in your head is just lies and that you are amazing! Finally, move on with your day and enjoy your family, your surroundings, and your life!

I’d love to hear if you think this could work for you? Have you ever tried it? I challenge myself and all of you to give a whirl this week if you have the need. I’ll let you all know how it goes this later!

Just remember that you are an exceptional person and don’t forget it!
